Well it's the start of a New Year, and today is the first day of classes. I'm at the library pre-studying for my classes because I cannot afford to get behind this quarter. This is one of my new objectives of the quarter, as for the others, I don't really know what to do.

My confidence is at an all-time low and I feel like anything I do that isn't academic related is useless, and won't make me happy. This is due to not passing a class last quarter. I've never not passed a class, which shows that I'm really losing myself and I've got to get back on my feet. Also, I'm worried that in my current persona, I will not achieve any sort of happiness because of my limited engagement with people and lack of desire to explore. Actually, I do want to explore but with someone.

I'm getting old, and I need to make this switch to a mature self that will be able to take on the real world in less than 2 years. I thought I had transitioned to being mature last year, but it fell through by academics again. So, this year I want to focus on academics wholly, which I believe will boost my confidence back up and allow me to refocus where I need to be.

I keep saying over and over, "I'm going to be the lamest student this quarter."

The end

  • Jan. 4th, 2010 at 12:43 PM
Well, after four years it's over. I hurt but thats okay cause in the end I'm happy. It's been a lot of hurt in the last few months and what I need is space. I want to be friends again, but space is needed for that to happen.

So to put into little words... Greg and I broke up.

first post of 2010,

let's make it to 9 years and counting!

i've been pretty busy being NOT on the computer, the computer has been giving me anxiety and stress attacks because of the P__ stuff. ugh anyways.

new years was interesting this year. usually i'm home with my family/parents and we watch the dick clark new years thing on TV and go crazy for new years. if my mom is off that day, then it's like any other new years. if my mom is working, we have to pick her up from work and drive like crazy home before it hits midnight, heh. i've had crazy close calls in years past, like one time where we had to run a quick errand at a house 10 minutes away from ours. i was basically driving 60 mph on surface streets on the way home !!!

this year was different because my mom had to wake up early to go to work the following morning. with this whole 12 hour workday they just passed, it's kinda screwing with how things are run. i don't drive my mom to work anymore. mom works mornings now instead of afternoons. dad gets her lunch now instead of me getting her dinner every once in a while. they go to sleep at around 9 the previous night. for new years eve, my parents went to sleep at 9pm. my sister and I pretty much celebrated new years by ourselves. it was really low key. come to think of it, we could've went out and celebrated somewhere other than home. then again i was fine keeping it low key. reminded me of new years eve 1999. that was low key too because the whole house was sick, but me. everyone was sleeping until maybe about 11:30. i guess it'll be a xxx9 tradition from now on, heh.

new years day was spent at the auto show. more quality hangout time with the family. i've become more family-centered as of lately, especially at a time when i need them the most, and at a time where they are being very supportive. complete 180 from say 2-3 years ago huh? if i learned anything about life it's shit can change in an instant, and things don't always go as planned. that's the truth right there.

Establish my plan to get into Berkeley

Lets do this.

my last post of 2009

  • Dec. 31st, 2009 at 11:15 PM
literal last post! and now something that was backdated. i don't have a lot of time to do a whole year recap but if i have to look back, it was pretty good. it just got a little hectic this final month of 2009, but other than that, a pretty good year. i got back into the swing of things being a temporary undergrad again at UCSD. it was nostalgic, but different since i didn't know anyone, and i commuted from home. i reconnected with old high school friends and in a way, slowly let go of the college friends. no, not anyone in particular, but just in general as we all moved back home, and those in high school came back to SD. for some reason it kinda me realize i probably wouldn't want to leave san diego. and with the last quarter of 2009, i feel like i met some cool people that i'd love to hang with again.

the first half of 2009 happened pretty fast, as i was in school. the summer was probably the most hectic with summer school. i also started southwestern college classes for the first time, which was pretty fun. although the hours were ridiculous, and i got pretty damn sick in july, it was good. i almost had no break from school-related stuff this whole year come to think of it, so if i had to name 2009 something, it would be "the school year". haha, 2008 was the vacation year, 2009 was the school year. busted my ass this year academically. but i got through it. 2010 is even more apprehensive and i don't even want to begin to predict what's gonna happen, cause it could go both ways. regardless, i will try my very best to make the best of my situation.

haha, 2009 does sound pretty boring and repetitive with this whole school thing. but it had its moments. del mar fair, visiting UCLA for the second time, soak city, hollywood and highland, conan o'brien, countless concerts, trips to moreno valley and portillos, and many other things i can't think of right now but will definitely make a post and recap and better length.

thank you 2009. i'd relive this year again. i felt more... productive this time around compared to 2008. then again, a good portion of 2008 was amazing. 2010. new year, new decade.

and yes, this time around i think the passing of the new year doesn't faze me. thanks a lot 2008 for ruining it, lol. just kidding.

happy 2010 people. goodbye 2009. wait, last time i will be able to write 2009 on dates. 2009. 2009 2009 2009 2009 2009. :D

Happy New Years Eve!

Tomorrow will be the start of a brand new year! Woohoo.

Anyway, I finished the first season of It Started With A Kiss yesterday. The last episode was pretty funny. But I didn't like that Zhi Shu wore a dress and Xiang Qin wore a suit. I mean come on! That kind of ruined it for me. And to top it off, Pei Zi Yu and her sister was the bride's maids!
It should've been Xiang Qin's best friends, Chun Mei and Ya Nong!

The wedding may have been a bit disappointing, but I look forward to watching the second season called They Kiss Again. Hmm.. let me predict.. in the end... Xiang Qin is pregnant! :D I hope I'm right.

I don't think I'll see Avatar. I know that the art is waesome and the effects are groundbreaking. But the story seems old. "Look! a unspoiled world wityh friendly natives! Let's kill em and take thier shit!" It's just not a storyline I want to support anymore. People get so wrapped up in what they  can do onscreen they don't even consider gaving a worthwhile story.
Fun fact about me. I grind my teeth. at peresnt I have two fractured teeth and no insurance at ALL. I thought both were dead but the unbearable pain says diffrent. I think the worst of it is over. But I'm still quite sick. So I'll be staying home and resting in bed for NYE and day.

*sigh* Stupid abcess
tonight i got a surprise invitation to watch avatar that night. i wasn't really feeling like going out just because i've been home all day, haven't changed out of my house clothes, and had a sore throat. plus, i was on my way to pick up my mom from work when the garage opened and i see my sister and my cousins jeff and nicole in the car. whoa! my dad said he was gonna pick up my mom instead and then i get changed and we're on our way to the mall to see avatar.

thinking an hour before showtime is adequate time to get tickets for avatar, it actually wasn't. sold out. ah well, we made up for it by grabbing a cinnabon cinnamon roll which, aside from wetzel's pretzels, is the only 2 places that are only found in malls and not as standalone stores, so if i do go to the mall for whatever reason you know i'm going to visit at least one of those places. since i haven't had cinnabon in what seems like 5 years, it just made it that much more worth it, hah. now come to think of it, i haven't had a pretzel in forever either. i think i might get one today, hopefully, heh.

all that aside, that's not what i really wanted to talk about. as we were leaving the mall to drop off my cousins home after a failed avatar movie night, i was fiddling with the radio and we get on 90.3. The song that was on was Warren G - Regulate. one of my favorite songs, because my cousin marizen indirectly introduced me to it. you see, she stayed over at our house one summer in '94 or something and when she would watch MTV the Warren G music video would be on. anyways....

my sister and I were singing the lyrics to the song. i could safely assume my cousins didn't know the song (i'm sure they're more into oldies and stuff you hear on the soft rock channel), but i sang the song anyway. then i hear jeff say in the background "oh i know where they sampled this track from". haha, i knew and heard the original song before, but like most songs on 96.5, i know the songs and words, but not the artists and titles. just then i hear jeff say "michael mcdonald" because nicole asked who the original singer of the song was.

my sister and i are still rapping and whatnot (i think we were at nate dogg's "They got my homey hemmed up and they all around..."), then in a brief moment of spontaneous car karaoke mashup, jeff and nicole start singing the chorus of "i keep forgettin'" by michael mcdonald while my sister and I were singing the warren G lyrics. in a rare moment two genres with two completely different lyrical meanings mixed and actually created something that sounded pretty good if sung together. the other more sentimental thing that came out of this was the rare family moment that brought the 4 of us cousins (well, 5 of us because if it wasn't for marizen i wouldn't really know the song haha) together for a moment of hilarity.

later i just had to see if someone on youtube mashed the two songs together: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_I5-vIXZizk (Mcdonald comes in at 1:40)
nothing can recreate that 10 seconds of spontaneous car karaoke mashup awesomeness that occurred that night, but this is the best i can do.

Here's Luna-Chan and Domo_Kun relaxing.

And here's My phone, Mi Young and her gauardian Chibi Luna!

And a close up!

Isn't she cute??????

One more .

I think they make a cute couple.

A Very Japanese Christmas

  • Dec. 27th, 2009 at 1:36 PM
The tradition of watching Christmas themed Animes is alive and well in my house. This year along with The Big O "Dameonseed" And the Love Hina Christmas special, along with "Last Christmas" by Foxxi MisQ And "White Christmas" preformed (in english) By <3 Ayumi Hamasaki <3 ! I also found a Dec 24 1990 Concert by a Japanese singer whom I'm ashamed to say I forget her name. So a good time was had by....well me. One of my roomates( the mother and mother in law of the other roomates) insisted on cooking Christmas dinner. So I ate it. Good food. I'd like to say thing are geting better but I have doubts. For the first time since I joined Valley Caseworks in 1997 there was NO christmas bonus. So that sucked pretty hard. I've named my phone, Hwang Mi Young after my favorite singer in Girls Generation (SNSD) I decided her Korean name was cooler than her stage name ( Tiffany) I also for a small charm which I named Chibi Luna.
Soon it's a new year. Let's hope for better times for us all!

Christmas Blues.
